PEOPLE WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN

The five loving Christian volunteers that have devoted a good portion of their lives to caring for these 26 kids deserve our support. Their job does not stop on Fridays or at night; it is an as-needed-24/7 commitment.

For this dedication, they get about $7/day expense money if there is enough left after the kids needs are met. I know of times when the workers have gone without their pay to insure that the kids get fresh food or milk.

One of the volunteers gave up his position as a manager at a Walmart in Mexico to care for these kids. His wife serves as the main cook and he does whatever needs to be done. The entire staff is well educated, and have chosen a life of service over materialism.

A few years ago, I asked a young man working at the home if he was a volunteer. He proudly replied that he was a full time employee. When the home got enough money to pay him, he would be making $150 per month. At the end of the day that starts long before sunrise, you can see the fatigue in the workers eyes. Can you imagine their satisfaction for a job done well?

They are making a huge difference in so many lives. Just maybe, they are the lucky ones.
